Thank you to
all who attended our January shoot and in particular our visiting
shooters, with a win for Rob Rehbein from Bundy in the Harry
Walker Memorial Handicap event. An enjoyable day's competition
had by all and an early finish too.
Thank you also
to the members who attended our first Saturday of the month
competition put together by Kev Perkins. I believe we had a
full squad plus, which was great and with a few away at the
Kingaroy two day shoot the numbers will obviously be up for
the March comp on Saturday the 6th. I made a blue telling all
that this comp was a continental discipline .Wrong! It is a
25 target double barrel 15 metre comp, shooting 5 targets per
lane as is done in National and International trap shooting
events. Better still, to hone our trap shooting skills particularly
starting off a new year and with a full years program ahead.
Test yourself and see how your scores and skill improves as
the year progresses.
For those of us
who ventured to Kingaroy, well we were there. Greg Matthews
certainly went on with it in the double barrel championship
very near to the end, well shot Greg. Malcolm ended up with
a second place A grade in the early comp on Saturday. It was
great to see Holly and Andy over there and Andy was certainly
happy with his scores in the A Grade competition considering
they both have been head down and whatsit up shifting house
and settling into the ponderosa at Booie. We enjoyed their company.
Would have liked to have spent more time with them after the
shoot had finished on Sunday however with the heavy rain in
all surrounding districts it was better to have left a little
early and this decision proved very right with flood waters
across the Gundiah road and surrounding access roads on the
way home forcing detours. Sundays handicap I shot a 29/30 and
finished with a share in fourth place. Nicho shot well too but
was unable to stand on the winners podium. Neil Berry ever consistent
ended up third in the handicap after a lengthy shoot off. There
is no doubt that Neil lifts in these type of competitions and
was very consistent over the whole carnival, taking home the
Vetarans High Gun. He and Wilma travel to New Zealand next month
to compete in their Nationals. Having won the NZ Veterans title
last year he will be all out to defend his crown.
We wish you well Neil and also in the Australian Nationals in
April as we possibly will not see them both until after these
events have been completed
For those members
who are thinking of attending the Nationals in Australia you
must pre -nominate as nominations will not be accepted on the
grounds, so please nominate early. All the info is available
in your CTSN magazine. I do know that Dr Paul Anderson has nominated
so far and I assume daughter Emily will join with him. Emily
shot well in Roma last year and we wish her well again this
year as we do her Dad. She shoots for the wrong club though!
This months program
is our Heritage City Championship one day shoot and offers excellent
competition for all, commencing with a 50 target Double Barrel
Championship followed by the prestigious Peter Anderson Memorial
Points comp donated by Dr Paul in memory of his late father,
for which we thank him. Single barrel 25 target and the last
on the program 15 pair Double Rise completes the days events.
Start will be 10 am. This is always a popular shoot within our
district and we look forward to seeing all attend and welcome
our visiting shooters from kindred clubs. Fellas bring your
ladies as a day socialising at the club is always great and
I know Sharon would love to meet and greet the girls too. Please
bring a plate for afternoon tea which will help our ladies otherwise
we could all end up eating fresh air sandwiches.
If you are yet
to pay your annual subs, this is important as your licence does
require club membership and participation. Working bee on Saturday
1pm and set up 8 am on Sunday - a little help would be great
to have things ready for Sunday. I look forward to seeing all
on Sunday and good shooting.
