Mossleigh Gun Club, Alberta, Canada
The Mossleigh Gun Club is situated some
70 kilometres south east of the city of Calgary, home of the 1988
Winter Olympics. The club is located on the farm of David Wark
and family.
The club was formed in 1955 and plans to hold 50 year anniversary
celebrations in 2005. Presently the club has two trap layouts,
with Pat traps and Canterbury voice release systems. There is
also one skeet field, which will shortly have a voice release
system installed. A sporting clays course and a rifle range are
incorporated in the property.
A new clubhouse was built by a number of very dedicated members,
which provides an enjoyable place to view the trap events, play
cards and enjoy the wonderful fruit pies provided by the local
members' wives.
Being only a two-trap layout, we do not hold any ATA registered
trap events, but hold a number of well-attended club shoots
throughout the year. We also hold a trap league during the summer
months on Wednesday evenings, which is becoming very popular with
the members. This will be the third year of league shooting. It
has also been proposed that the club hold the Provincial Sporting
Clay Championships this year.
I was looking forward to our club competing in e-Shoot 2002, but
unfortunately did not get the backing from the members that I
would have liked and the event had to be cancelled.
