The club offers clay target shooting in down-the-line,
automatic ball trap, skeet and sporting disciplines. All traps
are automatic and Canterbury Voice Release systems are used on
the ball trap and DTL layouts, which are under cover.
The sporting field is set in a large area of woodland, shooting
over two valleys. Complete with two high towers, this is a
testing layout for the experienced shooter, but is still kind to
the beginner. The layouts are changed for each sporting fixture.
All the traps are magazine fed on button release.
There is a practice/tuition stand where you can receive
instruction and the use of a club gun. Three CPSA safety officers
ensure safety at all times. Cartridges used are 28 and 24 gram
loads only.
Facilities include a large heated clubhouse, hot and cold meals
and beverages and a small shop selling ammunition, hearing
protection and accessories.
The club is member-owned and sponsored by Pentagon Mercedes-Benz,
the largest privately owned Mercedes-Benz dealer in the UK.
(Congratulations to
Fareham for coming 2nd in 2002 with some stiff competition. Team
members Ron King and Danny Walters almost made it into 'The 150
Club' with
their scores of 149. Mention should also be made that the highest scoring C Grade shooter in 2002 waas Fareham's Tracy Langan - Ed.)
